Photos from the ACT/LWF water project in Mapou
Since the heavy floodings in the South East of Haiti during May 2004, LWF through Action by Churches together (ACT) and in close colaboration with MINUSTAH, OCHA, OXFAM, CRS, CONCERN and local partners FOPLAB and KOPAB, is implementing a water adduction project.
The project starts at a water source above the "cascade pichon" and leads 8,5 km to Mapou and Kay Didier at one side, and will later connect Belle Anse some 17 km further down the source on the other side. For the latter LWF is (...)
Flooding in Gonaives
On 18 September 2004, Hurricane Jeanne lashed northern parts of Haiti with heavy rains causing extensive damage and flooding in urban and rural areas, particularly in the north-west in the Artibonite Provinces. Gonaives, the fourth main city in Haiti, was severely affected by flooding and mudslides which destroyed large areas of the city and its surrounding communities. More than 2000 people dead or missing.
